In the Box

January 10, 2013

This past indoor soccer game I got to stand in the box with the boys.  No plexiglass to block my camera!

I can’t say the boys were thrilled with the “woman with the camera” standing in the box, but they got used to me.  It was quite a smelly experience!  I also enjoyed getting to hear Rich coach the boys – in the same calm manner he treats our children.  It is no wonder that the team respects him and the parents have followed Rich as he has moved up through the years.

I can’t say these were awesome pictures.  My 18-200 couldn’t handle the lack of light no matter how high I set the ISO so I went to my 50mm which at least paused the motion.  I have a friend with a 70-200 2.8 that I’m going to ask to borrow for another try.  Indoor soccer is just not as easy to photography as outdoor!

Halftime team meeting

My man… and the coach getting the next round of boys ready to sub in.

The team has two more games this session and then they are going to move up an age bracket for the next session.  The one they are in is not challenging, but has helped them work on their foot skills.

    A tripod/stroboframe would also help.

Indoor soccer! Our city has been discussing building an indoor facility. Would be awesome!
